Can You Keep A Secret? movie review

As some may or may not know, I was totally and completely psyched about Sophie Kinsella's Can you keep a secret? being turned into a movie. Can you keep a secret? was the first novel of hers that I read so I was expecting great things here.

First things first, these are the things I loved. The cast is awesome. Alexandra Daddario did great as our Emma.

Tyler Hoechlin plays Jack. Yes, folks. We get to stare at his face for over an hour. I am not complaining.

The Soundtrack was solid. Whoever was in charge of wardrobe needs to come into my life. And, they filmed in NYC, People!

The only problem here is the script. They cut out Emma's parents and cousin. While I get that they were trying to save time, I couldn't help feeling that they got rid of one of the key plot points. It's Emma's insecurities with her family that is one of her biggest secrets. Also we never see the company picnic. That Picnic is a major turning point in the novel. It's a shame they wrote that out.

All in all, I did enjoy this film and I will probably watch it a few hundred times. But, I just got to say it, Folks. The book was better.

Feel free to agree or disagree below.

Dilly Court, Isaiah,Dami Im and Jessica Mauboy

Hi All! I Have recently finished four books by the author Dilly Court, A Mother's Courage, A Mother's Secret, A Mother's Wish, and The Best of Sisters. I should note that they are all set during the Victorian Era.

A Mother's Courage is about a young widow determined to not lose custody of her two children to her cruel in-laws. Along the way she makes friends, some enemies, and finds love.

A Mother's Secret tells a dual tale of a half Indian girl born out of wedlock and her mother. Shortly after birth, they are separated. This tale is about how they are reunited, move forward together as a family and find love.

A Mother's Wish is about yet another widow dealing with a cruel In-law. After her brother is sent away, she and her boy are abused by her father-in-law and his employees. She runs away with her child, falls in with Carnies, and sets off on a quest to find her brother with her half Romany friend. Along the way she too falls in love.

The Best of Sisters is about a young orphan whose brother is forced to leave to New Zealand. her uncle 's cruelty leads her leave. She is taken in by a kind childless couple and befriends a fake doctor.  In the end, She too find love. Are you seeing a trend here?

Here are three songs I think you will love.

What is Steampunk?

Earlier today, my mom asked me this question. Steampunk is, according to Wikipedia,
a subgenre of science fiction or science fantasy that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery.
link here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steampunk

Did you understand any of that? Yeah, wipe that drool of your face while I break it down further. Steampunk is an off shoot of Scifi. It involves modern-style tech that is (Wait for it, Yes a Hamilton reference!) Steam powered. There is also a lot of corsets (like way too many for my comfort).

Steampunk is also a style. Pics below:

This is some of the less extreme stuff I found. As a book genre, I have only read one and that was a Steampunk meets Bollywood novel named Third Daughter by Susan Kaye Quinn. I haven't read the other too novels in her series, The Royals of Dharia. While I really liked the book , I'm not a fan of the genre so..... sorry?

I felt like you all should know what I think about this genre. I will admit that some of the gowns are cool, but I'd have to be desperate for clothes to put on a corset. I like breathing. And eating. And did I forget to mention breathing?

If any of you, my dear readers, love the style and/or genre, please feel free to tell me all about it. On the flip side, if you hate it with a passion most pure, spill! I'm here to listen. Ciao!

Music and books, again

Hi All!
Today, I heard this wonderful song by Lin-Manuel Miranda to benefit hurricane relief for Puerto Rico. Singing with him were Marc Anthony, Ruben Blades, Camila Cabello, Pedro Capo, Dessa,Fat Joe, Luis Fonsi, Juan Luis Guerra, Alex Lacamoire, John Leguizamo, Jennifer Lopez, Rita Moreno, Ednita Nazario, Joell Ortiz, Anthony Ramos, Gina Rodriguez, Gilberto Santa Rosa, PJ Sin Suela, Tommy Torres, Ana Villafañe Marc Anthony, Ednita Nazario, Pedro Capo, Jennifer Lopez and Gloria Estefan. I loved Hamilton and I loved this song.

 Don't you just love it?

I read the second book in the Little Bookshop series. If ever I felt gooey, it was while reading True Love at the Lonely Hearts Bookshop. I made me feel like a chance meeting can really bring true love.

I also started reading The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America by Erik Larson. Y'all, this book is good. Know what else is good? The One Cent Magenta by James Barron. I honestly didn't think a single stamp could be that interesting. Thank you, Mr. Barron for proving that a stamp can be as crazy interesting as its many varied owners.

If any of you have read any of the above mentioned books, please feel free to leave a comment. Or a string of really weird emocons.

Totally Should be a Movie!

I have just finished the most wonderful story. The Little Bookshop of Lonely Hearts by Annie Darling (cover below) is a swoony romcom in the making. Sebastian and Posy's dialogue is sharp, witty and full of undeniable attraction. I am having trouble imagining the dream cast for this, so comments below people.
