To Catch a Thief series by Kay Marie and Cookies!

A couple of months ago, I discovered this wonderful series. Below are the official blurbs with my take in bold.

Hot Pursuit : book 1

Don't miss this laugh-out-loud, enemies-to-lovers romance that's How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days meets White Collar with a dash of The Thomas Crown Affair thrown in!

All Jolene Carter has ever wanted is to own a bakery of her own. There’s only one problem. Her father, Robert Carter, is a world-renowned art thief and she’s, well, sort of his protégé. But he’s promised her that this next job in New York will be their last, and she won’t let anyone get in the way of her dreams... especially not the distractingly delicious FBI agent hot on her tail.

Agent Nate Parker has been on the Robert Carter case for years, and if the rumors of the aging criminal’s retirement are true, this might be his last chance to nail him. With the legacy of his late father in the back of his mind, the stakes are more personal than anyone realizes. He won’t let anything stand in the way of justice...especially not the red-headed vixen who keeps giving him the slip.

He’s a cop who’d never bend. She’s a con who’ll never break. But all’s fair in love and larceny...

Jo is one of those beautiful zany characters that is so easy to fall in love with. Her banter with Nate is one of those priceless moment I loved rereading.

 Stolen Goods:book 2

Catch Me If You Can meets Tangled in this funny and feel-good adventurous
romance.
Addison Abbot is a dreamer—she dreams of owning her own cake shop, of
traveling the world, of finding Prince Charming. But when it comes to actually
following any of those dreams, she's a little, well, stuck. So when a devilishly
handsome stranger saves her from two robbers with guns and pulls her into the
adventure of a lifetime, she's determined to find her fairytale ending—until she
realizes he's the most wanted criminal in America, that is.
Thaddeus Ryder was just another run-of-the-mill international art thief until his
latest heist went south. Now, his face is on every news station, his name is
making headlines, and his partner is working for the feds. Talk about a bad week
on the job. His only option is to flee the country. But when hitmen for the
Russian mafia interrupt his getaway, Thad gains an accidental companion—a
baking beauty who might be too tempting to resist.
When a girl good meets a bad boy, sparks are bound to fly. But this conman
is about to discover the only thing he can't steal is her heart...

Addison and Thad are awesome together. I adored this story!

Off the Grid : book 3

One part Pride and Prejudice.
One part Romancing the Stone.
All the feels.

Don't miss this laugh-out-loud, action-packed romantic comedy, new from bestselling author Kaitlyn Davis, writing as Kay Marie.

Agent Leo Alvarez is on his way to Hawaii when his partner calls in a favor—the mob is after a pastry chef in NYC, and he's the only one who can get to her in time. With his dreams of Mai Tais and sandy shores ruined, Leo rushes to her rescue. But when he arrives at her apartment, he's greeted by an upturned nose and an icy blue stare. This damsel in distress doesn't need saving. Good thing he's a retired marine who never backs down without a fight.

After a childhood racked by scandal, McKenzie Harper has learned to loathe surprises. So when a strange man knocks on her door, interrupting her morning routine, she has no choice but to politely shut it in his face—no matter how deeply his hazel eyes might pierce. She has places to go, pastries to bake, and promotions to secure. Or she did, until three masked men kidnap her and throw her into the back of a van... Suddenly, that white knight doesn't seem so scary.

He's a cocky Fed with a killer smile. She's an uptown beauty with a biting tongue. If they want to survive, they'll have to learn to work together—assuming they don't kill each other first.

McKenzie and Leo got that spark that made reading this final book very enjoyable.

Thoughts and more Thoughts

So, I have seen the movie What Men Want. Taraji P. Henson is a trip! I enjoyed it so much. Thank goodness I can't hear my brothers' thoughts (I am shuddering at the thought).

I am rereading Get Well Soon by Jennifer Wright. I really love learning more about Plagues and Diseases. No, I am not weird. Shame on you for thinking so. If you are like me and you want to have a fun time learning more about pestilence, pick this book up.

Now on to a mini rant on My Best Friend's Wedding. Who here thinks it was totally unfair that Julia Roberts is left single at the end? It's a romantic comedy for crying out load and she is our main character. I get that in real life we girls don't always get our man but come on... This is movie, not a therapy session. I want happily ever after, rainbows, and hearts vomiting glitter. Not sadly dancing in my gay best friend's arms. It dawned on me this week how utterly depressing this movie really is. I think I need a whole lot of chocolate to get me through this movie from now on.

Feel free to tell me about a movie you think had a horrible end. Or not. Just saying.

What I'm Watchin'

I am about to sink my teeth into What Men Want. I will tell you what I think next week. Also, that elevator scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier: Priceless. Do watch that folks if you get the chance. I think you might enjoy it.

Book Shoutout!

I want to talk real quick about two books I've read recently.

Pride, Prejudice, and Other Flavors by Sonali Dev is a delicious modern retelling of Jane Austen's most beloved Novel. Dr.Trisha Raje,Neurosurgeon  is our Mr.Darcy. There are times when your heart alternates from bleeding for her and wanting to shake her.  As our Elizabeth Bennet, we have DJ Caine, Chef Extraordinaire. As a male Lizzie, he does a fine job. I want to tell you more but I have a tendency to overshare. I will give away the end in some way, shape, or form. All I will say is this, if you are an Austen fan and love tales involving the blending of different cultures, read this scrumptious book. Like yesterday and thank me later. I read this in one day.

The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren is a hilarious Rom-Com that needs to be made into a movie. Olive Torres is the bad luck twin. Nothing in her life seems to go right. Ami, in contrast, is the twin who basically won a free wedding. But when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning from the seafood buffet, Ami urges Olive to go on her (free) Honeymoon. The only catch is she has to go with the best man, Ethan Thomas, who just happens to be her nemesis. From there, this story takes you all over Maui as Olive and Ethan encounter bosses and exes and little dark secrets. You will love this book, folks. Trust me.

And now I will leave you to it. If you have a book suggestion, don't be afraid to leave me a message. I'm friendly, I promise.😀

And the winner is......

Duncan Laurence! I congratulate you on your spectacular win. The Netherlands will now be hosting Eurovision 2020. I think next year will be just as much fun as this past one. Hopefully we'll see some familiar faces ( Yes, I'm talking about  Joci Pápai).

Pulpitist Update: Spring is a pain

So, I just wanted to update you all (as in the bots and bored humans who click here) on how I am doing.

Once upon a time I loved spring. I enjoyed the yoyo weather. I mean, it's part of what makes life exciting, right ? Not anymore. Just when my mouth is used to the lovely warm air, we get a blast of what seems to be arctic air (to me at least). My mouth scrunches up, people tell me I look angry, and I visualize hurting the irritating people around me in some creative ways.

I'm not happy that the pain causes me to become a grade A grouch. I try not to complain, really I do. It's almost been a year since I was diagnosed with Reversible Pulpitist and I'm still waiting on the reversible bit. One of my brothers gets an attitude whenever I'm in pain. He's all "Are you still going thru that?" Grouchy Me: "Yes, I am. Would like to make my freaking pain go away? Can you do that? 'Cause I can't".

My Dad says "Get the tooth pulled". Because a canine isn't that important. The standard procedure for RP is Tylenol which doesn't work at all for me. Plus, I really, really hate pills.

The end results is that I've been taking it one day at a time. I wrap a scarf around my face while shopping in Walmart because it's always frigid in there. That led to an awkward moment when some man thought I was Muslim. Yeeaaah, I'm not.

So, this has been me lately. Will let you know how summer goes.
