As I have mentioned before, I am biracial. Part of the wonderful gene pool that makes me, well me, has given me hair that pretty much lives its own life. All through my preteen and teen years, I want that Pantene hair. You know what I mean. Shiny, bouncy lush hair swinging in time to Natasha Bedingfield's Unwritten. My hair said hard pass.
We coexist now in semi peaceful harmony. It tangles like mad but has thankfully stopped catching on everything and everyone. Only thing is, my hair has declared a state of war against bobby pins and Claw clips. It defies logic, really it does. My hair will find a way out the bobby pins and just drop 'em on the ground. As for Claw clips, my hair consistently breaks the teeth. I have yet to find teeth thick enough not to break. Goody made one once that my hair seemed to love but the springs snapped after a few years. I have yet to find those again.
One day as I was cleaning, I came across an old crochet hook that had slipped out my work bag. Being busy, I popped it into my hair and forgot it was there for a few hours. When I remembered, I tried putting my hair into a bun and anchoring it with the hook. It worked! My hair can't break it and crochet hooks are designed to not let projects slide off. I frequently use crochet hooks in my hair now.
If you have had the same issue or just think I'm being silly, feel free to leave a message below. FYI: I'm serious. Crochet hooks rock!
That sounds like something I might try one day.
