In case anyone was wondering what I've read lately, here you go. If you weren't wondering the you are welcome to read any way. Or not. Totally up to you. Side note: are bath bombs supposed to leave you itchy?
Secret Baby by Elle Goode
Madeleine has a secret. Five months ago, she met an irresistible man and made a very dumb mistake. She knows that a random hookup won’t want to be saddled with a baby and she’s way too vulnerable in this state to be rejected. Keeping a baby from the daddy might seem wrong, but it’s the best way to protect herself and her child for now.
Oliver wants answers. Five months ago, he met the woman of his dreams, took her up to his hotel room, made love to her until they both passed out only to wake up alone. He’s hired private investigators but with no last name or photographs, his hookup has remained a mystery. And he doesn’t like mysteries. Or surprises. Oliver knows the Madeleine is the one for him. When he finally finds her, he’s determined to keep her...even if the father of the child isn’t him.
Starts off as a steamy read but some how turns into this really awkward bit of fluff. It had promise. But I think this is gonna be a one time read. How is it supposed to be plausible? I like my romcoms to have some plausibility to it and I had some trouble finding it here. I went on a mini-rant to my mom and all she said was "Then don't read it any more". Very helpful since I just finished it.
Codename Romeo by Lucy Leroux
One FBI agent… one single mother… and a toddler who steals his heart.
All FBI agent Ethan Thomas wants is to come home to his new apartment and enjoy the luxury of his new flat-screen TV and some frozen pizza. Encountering a tiny toddler alone
in the hall changes everything for the rough and rugged agent. Relief sets in when the child's mother appears. But when she collapses at his feet just before a blizzard hits Boston, Ethan is in over his head. Now, Ethan is changing diapers and playing doctor… and loving every minute of it. The mother and child need a place to stay, and Ethan can't possibly turn them away. But this investigator knows people—and the woman he’s falling for is keeping secrets. Can he uncover the truth while protecting them from the dangers of his job?
There is nothing that makes me get all mushy like reading about strong men falling for little kids and wanting to be their Dad. This is now one of my favorites. A total reread. I want to find a man like that. Except without the druglord. Or the being on the run. Or watching everyone I loved get killed. Or almost dying. You know what, Just scratch that. Never mind, being single is cool.
A Billion Reasons Why by Kenzie Reed
His nickname’s Sexy Satan. For the past three years I’ve called him boss. So why is he telling everyone that he’s my boyfriend? Working for Chase Lancaster was supposed to catapult my marketing career. Instead, I’m trapped in personal assistant hell. His hobbies include barking orders, torpedoing my advertising campaigns, and reducing then office staff to tears. On a good day, he acts like I’m invisible. On a bad day, I remind myself arsenic is not an acceptable sweetener for coffee. And prison orange would be murder on my complexion. Imagine my surprise when Chase follows me home to Bitter End, North Carolina, where I’m about to endure my ex-fiancĂ©’s wedding. The moment he chases off my date and offers to pose as my boyfriend, I know he’s got a hidden agenda—especially when he plays the part a little too convincingly. Unfortunately, I have to play along to find out what he’s really up to. To satisfy the town gossip squad, I’ll have to let him kiss me. Who knew Satan’s lips were so soft and inviting? And if we’re really playing the part, we’ll have to go to Lover’s Lane—testing my willpower beyond its limits. The more time we spend together outside the office, though, the more I see a different side of him. He’s still bossy and demanding, but is it wrong that I find it kind of, well … hot? This wedding is bound to be hell, so I might as well spend it in the arms of a sexy devil.
This Enemies to Lovers tale is so full of laughs and fun, I dare you to not love it. I know you will and I will win by default. My mom even loved this book. We shared quite a few laughs over Daisy's crazy family.
I hope you've enjoyed (or tolerated) this glimpse at my book shelf. Feel free to comment or not.
