Playing catch-up......

Yesterday, I had a migraine. The kind where light and sound make you nauseasous, standing causes the world to dip, and a rave is pulsating in your brain sans catchy tunes. That kind.

Today, I am up and functional, trying my best to make up for being out of commission. I got a sewing job I need to finish amongst other things. I am just thankful I didn't wake up with this headache again.

Newtopia, or How I spent my weekend with zombies: a review

Last Saturday night, I watched Newtopia on a bored whim. I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did. It is a 8 episode Romcom/horror. Sidenote: Jisoo from Blackpink is our female lead. Trailer and synopsis below.

Lee Jae-Yoon is a soldier, who joined the military later than his peers. He feels anxious about his future. His girlfriend is Kang Young-Joo. Due to her beautiful appearance, she was called the "Goddess of the Engineering Department" in her university days. She now works as a rookie employee at a company. One day, an unknown virus suddenly spreads. People that get infected with the virus turn into zombies. Lee Jae-Yoon and Kang Young-Joo run toward each other in the dangerous downtown area of Seoul that is covered with zombies.

I really liked it. It ended on a sort of open note but one that had you nod as you said to yourself "They'll be fine". Jae-Yoon and Young-Joo are the one of the most quirky-cute couples I've seen in a while. It is part of what makes them so endearing. The casting for the other characters was *chef's kiss*. These actors more than earned their paycheck. Also, Young-Joo was living my chainsaw dream. I really, really, want a chainsaw.

When your sleep is messed up....

I woke up earlier than I wanted today as I had such a realistic dream. In my dream, I was reviewing Netflix's Chronicles of Narnia film (which comes out in 2026). I was critiqueing Meryl Streep's role.and bemoaning the lack of Liam Neeson. I then went on to bash his film Naked Gun

I never even saw Neeson's new film. I have no intention of watching it either. My mom and a couple of my brothers thought it would be fun but they haven't seen it yet. I thought it looked like a trainwreck in progress. Those are not my favorite types of films.

Anyway, I woke up irked. I want my sleep to be peaceful and I want my dreams to not be so darn realistic. No sleep working. Thankfully, it wasn't sleep math. 2+2=5.

I don't think I need glasses.....

First off, sorry for the late post. I did warn you. Things are what they are right now and I will not speak about it until I am certain of anything. That out the way, what is this?

I was making Chicken and Beef Tikka Masala using Street Kitchen's kit. BTW, they are incredible. I love trying cuisine from different countries and cultures and this is an easy way to do so as it has everything except the meat and additional side dishes. Cooking is a breeze while prep time for the meat might be a bit.

Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked. I looked inside the wrap to read the little info tidbit for the dish and found myself struggling to read it. The color combo made it to hard to focus. I think the contrast is off. It had me paranoid for a moment. Like, are my eyes finally going to give out? (Both my parents and LB1 need glasses and told me that I might need them too at some point). I asked LB2 if he struggled with reading it and he said yes so, Yea! It's not me!

Jittery mess.......

Just got the news that my family and I have to move by next month. Consider this advanced notice of my impending sporadic posts. I have no clue what we will do and am feeling like an anxious mess. We are a big family on a fixed income in a small town with rising prices.

Will we get through this? Yes. I'm just nervous. I don't like big, unexpected, potentially life altering changes. Not my thing. Gradual life changes. Can do. Ones like this leave me feel like I need to play catch up and that I'm inadequate.

I calmed down by day two, woke up and started preparing my room for all the packing. The others are doing the same. Some of the kids have never experienced a move so this is a novel experience for them. Lucky them.

So, in short, I may not post as punctually. As always, feel free to leave me a message below.

Update: We worked out a "deal". I feel like it was all a way to force a rent increase. But what can we do?🤷 Such is life.

Stormy nights.....

I will be super brief as a storm is blowing into our area. It has been super stormy at night lately. Thankfully, no tornado sirens have gone off in area but the lightning has been very intense.

LS2 is very scared of lightning, so as a good sister, I let her huddle next to me. Watching her jump each and every time she saw lightning was painful to watch.

I'm ending our post here as we tend to shut off the internet and other big electronics (i.e. tv, computers, ect.) during big storms. It helps to protect them from getting fried in a potential power surge. Surge protectors only do so much you know. They keep the electronics on until you can shut them down properly. If you don't shut down properly, you will fry it. That is their purpose. Sorry for the mini rant. I just heard someone talk about surge protectors like they were an unnecessary thing to have. You are welcome for that life hack, btw.

P.S. I was talking from experience. I once fried a DVD player as it was playing my Dad's favorite movie. I wasn't allowed to touch our new one for a whole month.  And it took me a few years to get the DVD out as I had gotten it stuck inside.
