As you all know, my mom and I taught my younger siblings how to cook. Never was I more happy about that than this week. Earlier this week I was sick so lb#3 cooked dinner two nights in a row. Now lb#2 is going to make homemade donuts tomorrow!
Next week I will let you all know how they come out. I have always wanted to try making my own but due to either laziness or fear, I never got around to it. Lb#2 is a tad more daring when it comes to food. Makes sense. He always was a foodie. That's not to say I don't have my own food adventures. They just happen less often. I blame it on the daily food grind of keeping a large family fed. It drains you real quick.
If any of you out there have any tips, please feel free to leave them below.
Well that goes without saying, you shout. Well reader, I'm not talking about the ready-cooked ones, I'm talking about the pre-prepared that Goya sells in the frozen food section. It doesn't go over well.
I will never do that again. If you want baby food smooth yuca, I advise you to boil yuca fries. It was so goopy that I closed my eyes for the first bite. It tasted the same but it was so weird.
Now you know. Feel free to tell me about your cooking misadventures below.
Due to circumstances outside my control, I may not be able to post every week for a bit. I will try to find ways to get a post up here but may not happen. So I will try to flood my blog with missing posts each time I do get online.
Before I go, I just want to say that Bree Wolf's new series Whickertons in Love is absolutely delightful. Also, if you haven't seen Netflix's new series Shadow and Bone, you got to check it out. It's based of Leigh Bardugo's two book series, Shadow and Bone Trilogy and Six of Crows Duology. Also my mom has finished all of Jane the Virgin. I'm still stuck on season 1.
I told you we would be back! After some ultra-mega music listening, I have got volume seven for you. I was so happy to put this one out. We got the goodies today. So, without further ado....
1.Au/Ra, Alan Walker - Ghost
Post-Apocalypse films buffs, we found your mini movie! Also, Au/Ra's voice is pure beauty. I feel like like this would totally be my drop-film. You know, that movie you've seen a million times, but would drop everything to see one more time. Try not to break the replay button to badly.
2.Lindsey Stirling - Til The Light Goes Out
I am a big fan of Lindsey Stirling. She is so incredibly gifted, that it is a true shame I never brought her up before. Anyway, though there is no lyrics, all you need to do is watch this video to see it's movie potential. If you're into fantasy films, that is.
3. Ed Sheeran - Beautiful People (feat. Khalid)
Trading Places in family friendly way? All I know is that I loved this video! They were so real in a fake world and they didn't let it change them.
4. Alan Walker & Ava Max - Alone, Pt. II
A music video reminiscent of Indiana Jones? Sign me up! Ava max is, as I'm sure you all know, a favorite of mine.
5. Ariana Grande - Break Free ft. Zedd
I guess this was Ariana embracing her inner nerd girl in a sexy(?) way. Honestly, this made me think of the 1970s Flash Gordon movie I am striving to forget. Beautiful song, but definitely a failed sci-fi wannabe.
6. Joel Corry - Lonely
A cute mini- comedy about a smartphone detox retreat. I probably need one for my tablet.
7. Jennifer Lopez & Maluma – Pa' Ti + Lonely
Jennifer and Maluma got some mega chemistry, music and acting wise. Makes me eager for their film that is coming out February 2022. But this video, manaaaaaaaan....... I want more. I need more. I keep watching it over and over, sure I missed something in this very dramatic film. Also, sorry about the language.
8. Katy Perry - Harleys In Hawaii (The Smile Video Series)
Doesn't this remind you of all those old-timey cartoons you watched as a kid? Or is that just me? Katy did an awesome job of making the most chill beat yet.
9. Marshmello - Here With Me Feat. CHVRCHES
Do you need a good tear-jerker with a happy ending? Marshmello has been so very happy to oblige. I dare you not to get choked up at the end.
10. Au/Ra - Panic Room
Something to remind you of Split, anyone? The end gets me everytime. Chilling, just chilling. Total Jam, though.
So, that is Volume 7 of Mini-Movie or Music Video. As always, feel free to leave a comment below.
Yeah, the Cinderella cake didn't happen. Lemon cake did happen. I'm just happy that I got cake at all. I feel like I live with a hoard of locusts. Blink and food disappears in mysterious ways. An No One did it!
In other news, I got my mom addicted to Jane the Virgin by mistake. I didn't mean for it to happen. I showed her one episode and now she wants all five seasons.
I never meant for it to happen. All he said was that he wanted to see one and I gave him six. I didn't expect him to actually work is way through all of them.
The him here is my Dad. What he wanted to see was Mission: Impossible. I got him all six and now he is watching his way through the series. Each time a new film starts I feel like I'm leading my Dad down the twisting, sleep-deprived road of binge-watching. Earlier this week, he was up until 4 in the morning finishing a movie.
The sibs are totally down with the movie binge and my Mom just wishes that he'd not bring the movies to bed. 4 am is not a fun time to wake up to explosions.
I don't know if I've said this before but Bigelow Lavender Chamomile plus Probiotics tea tastes exactly how I imagine SheaMoisture Lavender Wild Orchid Body Wash and Bubble Bath would taste if I ever lost my mind and tried to eat it. I honestly don't know why I keep drinking the stuff. I find myself swallowing in gulps. The Probiotics are indeed a nice touch. I do feel better after drinking it. And maybe that is why I am the only person drinking this tea.

One of my brothers (to be henceforth known as W) likes to bake from time to time. In fact, I helped teach him. I told him that I was not going to bake cookies all the time for him when I grew up and got married so he better learn to take care of that himself. The end result of that is that he makes the most delicious pumpkin cake with a cream cheese frosting (I love almost any thing with cream cheese) known as The Cinderella Cake.
Now, W has been craving a dessert and I don't feel baking. This cake is now being proposed for dessert and all I can say is "Yeah, let's do that".
In other news, I finished The Inheritance Games by Jennifer L. Barnes. I couldn't put this intriguing book down. Official blurb below:
A Cinderella story with deadly stakes and thrilling twists.
Avery
Grambs has a plan for a better future: survive high school, win a
scholarship, and get out. But her fortunes change in an instant when
billionaire Tobias Hawthorne dies and leaves Avery virtually his entire
fortune. The catch? Avery has no idea why--or even who Tobias Hawthorne
is. To receive her inheritance, Avery must move into sprawling, secret
passage-filled Hawthorne House, where every room bears the old man's
touch--and his love of puzzles, riddles, and codes.
Unfortunately
for Avery, Hawthorne House is also occupied by the family that Tobias
Hawthorne just dispossessed. This includes the four Hawthorne grandsons:
dangerous, magnetic, brilliant boys who grew up with every expectation
that one day, they would inherit billions. Heir apparent Grayson
Hawthorne is convinced that Avery must be a con-woman, and he's
determined to take her down. His brother, Jameson, views her as their
grandfather's last hurrah: a twisted riddle, a puzzle to be solved.
Caught in a world of wealth and privilege, with danger around every
turn, Avery will have to play the game herself just to survive.
Don't you just to jump right in? Book Two comes out in September. I can hardly wait!
