The Frame-up by Meghan Scott Molin

Meghan Scott Molin's The Frame-up is a fun, fast paced mystery that embraces the world of Geekdom. I loved the way Meghan casually tossed geek knowledge throughout the book while explaining things in a way that feels like a good friend has just let me in on the ubercool inside joke.

Our main character is comic book writer/costume designer Michael-Grace Martin, who insists on being called MG because life is tough enough without being a girl called Michael all the time. She's spunky, funny, and a tad sarcastic. On a day when she's running late for work and the line at the coffee shop is long enough to make a man weep, she sees a picture of a crime scene that reminds her of a frame from an old classic comic. After she casually mentioned it to the hipster in front of her, she puts it out of her mind. That is, until the hipster turns out to be a cop who wants her help to him solve who is the "Golden Arrow". What MG didn't expect when she accepts is that she will be drawn into a decades old murder mystery, be framed as the "Golden Arrow", expose a corrupt cop/druglord, grow closer to her co-workers and fall in love with the Hipster cop who is totally not her type.

This book was a gem. I recommend it to anyone who is even just a little bit of a fangirl/fanboy. You don't want to miss it. Also, this book is going on my "Should be a Movie" list.

I have no idea what to write

That name pretty much explains itself, doesn't it? I can't seem to get all my thoughts together long enough to write something worth while. I was going to post a review on a lovely mystery I read but I can't seem to get it right.

I am not listening to any new music or audio books. I'm just..... me. I feel sort of like I'm in a creative limbo which sucks on so many different levels. I just can't seem to get it out on paper. Or digital paper.

Side note:  William Thackeray's middle name was, I tell you no lie, Makepeace. Why, oh, why torture your kid like that?

That is all for now.

This is what's up!

My mom and I are starting work on a novel. Whether it gets up and runs, we'll find out. I'm so excited!

Staring a new story is like getting to meet a new person. There is no other way for me to describe it. It's new, exciting, and more than a little stressful at times.

So if I seem distracted, this might be the reason why.

Ruelle

10 Memorable Ruelle Songs Featured on Shadowhunters - Pop ...Margaret Eckford (born November 21, 1985), better known by her stage name Ruelle, is an American electropop singer-songwriter.Her music has been used on television series such as the opening theme songs of Dynasties (Game of Survival), Shadowhunters (This Is the Hunt), and The Shannara Chronicles (Until We Go Down).

Born the middle child of three sisters, Eckford grew up in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and attended a private Christian high school. She attended music school in Sydney, Australia. Ruelle is now based in Nashville, Tennessee. She adopted the French word "Ruelle" as her stage name because she liked how it gave off a sense of darkness and mystery, and how it has multiple meanings, including "chamber" and "wolf".

I found her music so cathartic that I just had to blog about her. Music is below.

1. Recover

2. The Other Side

 3. Find You

4. Carry You

I hope you all enjoyed that. As always, leave everything below.

Blas Canto

Blas was born on October 26, 1991, to a family of Nicaraguan emigrants. He also has partial Mexican descent. He rose to prominence as a member of the Spanish band Auryn. In 2017, he embarked on a solo career. His debut studio album Complicado was released in September 2018.

Image result for blas cantoI discovered this incredible man earlier this year as Spain's Representative in this year's Eurovision Song Contest. Sadly, ESC 2020 was canceled and Senor Canto wasn't able to show the world how awesome he is, this year anyway. Spain has opted to send him as their Rep for ESC 2021. We got a whole year to soak up his music.

So to make up for this very sad fact, I thought we could jam to him here. Right now. All you got to do is scroll and click on the selection below.

1. El No Soy Yo

2.Universo
3.No Volvere

4. Hang Ups

5. Sed De Ti

Why I love to read

This is a question I have really never tried to answer before so bear with me.

I love to read because I can lose (and/or find) myself in another time and/or place. I can learn, I can grow, I can experience a piece of life that I otherwise wouldn't have a chance to. I journey with each character as they grow and learn to be their best (or worst) selves. I learn how to get into their mind, see how they tick, figure out what makes them go. I can figure the puzzles, see through that intricate web the author has made and sometimes, if it's a really good one, I may just wrap myself inside and wait til the end to come out. Sometimes I find a connection with a character that is almost visceral.

For as long as I can remember, curling up with a story has been a way to relax, find comfort, or even forget. It's my ticket to new and exciting places. Even when the story is over and I have long since put the book down, I find that I still have a piece with me. In my mind there is a memory of a story that will float to the surface and make me laugh or sigh, sometimes at the most inopportune moments.

My love for books is a well-known fact in my family. So well known that they tend to pick up free books sometimes to bring them to me. My love for reading has overtime turned into another love, Writing. It is something that is bone-deep and inescapable. It is part of what this whole blog is about. And I hope that someone, somewhere gets what I am saying because deep down inside them, they feel it to.

So now that I have given you all a nerdy bit of myself, feel free to do the same below.
