Last Post of 2021!!!!

As I sit here, I am thinking of all the things I could talk about. Books, movies, music, weather, and family all come to mind. But what I will talk about is the fact that I'm happy to be able to post at all.

Through many trials and struggles, I have managed to get 52 posts up this year. I always feel like I start things only to leave them unfinished. When I first started this blog, I never expected that I would grow attached to it. Even though very few (if any) people read this blog, I like knowing that it exists. That my voice is out there even if the only ones listening are the bots. It makes posting every week a joy and pleasure.

If you understand what I'm saying, feel free to leave a message below.

WHYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Dad is on a all things Tudor History kick. I blame my mom. I'm on a collection spree for him when all I want to do is curl up in my bed and nap. Shark week sucks (all the ladies will understand).

In other news, I got new sd cards. So happy. Feel free to leave a message below.

When Parents Binge

My Mom and Dad are currently binge watching two different shows. The first is Money Heist. My mom almost throws tantrums when he starts watching it without her. They have one more season to go on that show. The second show they are watching is The Tudors. They send all the young ones to bed so they can watch that.

I think it's cute that they get couple time while watching stuff together. They need time away from their crazy circus. They need to remember what it was like before we were born. Yeah, good luck with that, Mom and Dad. I'll try to keep the laughing and screaming to a minimum but LB2 tickle attacked me the other day and reprisals are in the wind. I make sure there is little to no urine released.

If y'all feel me, feel free to leave a message below.

It's Cold Outside!

The past couple of weeks, it has been unseasonably warm. I blame LB2 for complaining about how much he hated November. Personally, I love the cold, crisp feel of the air. And I love my sweater collection. But, it has only just started to feel like the proper season.

Don't you dare judge me!

So, I like books. I can't help that all my life crawling into a story has been more fun than talking to boring, normal people. It is not my fault if you are too basic to hold my attention long. (Hear that, LB2!)

Today, I was getting flack from the Sibs on how many books I have. I honestly believe they need to just get off my back. It is my private digital library and I am the curator. It is my duty to make sure it stays up to date.

They were telling me that I didn't need any more books, that I had enough. It was a bunch of interlocking series. I needed to get them. I need to know what happens to every one. And No I, do not have a problem.

If you get my plight, feel free to leave a message below.

Mimi Matthews and Hawkeye!

The other day I had the pleasure of reading two books in her Parish Orphans of Devon series. I read books 1 & 3 so believe me when I say that you can read them out of order.

Her Victorian-era novels are entrancing and addicting. I plan on reading the rest of her books when I can find time to sit down long enough to think. It's been a mite busy here lately.

And yes that is why I missed last week's post. My life got a little out of hand and I couldn't make it to a keyboard. But, here I am folks! Giving you a 2 for 1 deal. Kinda like what Marvel's doing with their new series "Hawkeye"! (Yes, I am a MarvelGirl, Don't judge me!) I am super pumped over it. Do you all know that Hawkeye had, all in all, about 6 minutes of airtime in the MCU? He did.

As always, feel free to leave a message below.

Singledom kinda sucks

Yes, dear nonexistent reader, I am single. I normally don't mind that I am until we get to this season. Everyone is doing those cute Christmas couple shots and Hallmark's super sweet romance films start tasting like they've been sweetened with saccharine. And don't even get me started on Valentine's Day.....

I would like to be the other half of a duo. But honestly, I doubt there is a man alive who would be interested in me. I don't see myself as a very exciting person.

This week's song on replay is Hunter Hayes "Everybody's got somebody but me" featuring Jason Mraz. Enjoy!

Thank You, Daniel Craig

 Mr.Craig,

I would like to thank you for making me like James Bond again. As a teen, I became disillusioned with Bond. I thought of him as another womanizing pretty boy who knew how to throw a punch. Yes, I was that girl.

It was with great reluctance that I watch Casino Royale with my father (he's been doing a bit of a binge lately). I was overjoyed with your take on the iconic spy. I sat with my Dad and watch the other 3 films.

I just wanted to thank you and say that the next 007 will have big shoes to fill. My Dad and I will be watching No Time to Die together later this weekend. We thank you for making us like this franchise again.

A fan,

YTM

We're doing Shakespeare!

Last Saturday, my Dad had me getting as many Shakespearean films as I could get. Now we are slowly watching them all. I don't know if I want to be there when he plays Titus. I need therapy just reading the Wikipedia page about it. Shakespeare could be incredibly light-hearted and funny. He also could be so dark and depressing that therapy may be needed after reading and/or watching a play.

Family, Right?

I love mine, I do. But sometimes, they could be a bit more helpful, you know? For instance, I was planning on writing a blog post (about something I've now forgotten) when LS1 brought me a paper with a name on it. All she did was smile and leave me to my own conclusions. I had to go to my mother for more information on what I was supposed to look up.

Also, I have a cousin who is like a sister to me. Every time I call, she never picks up. And since I'm between cells right now, I can't text her. So, I email her. And that worked for a while. But, I sent her an email two months ago and I still haven't heard back. I hear about her through other family members. How is that going to help me check on her?

And so far this week, I feel like if I blink wrong, LB1 will snap my head off. LB2 is upset that I called a minor injury to Mom's attention and LittlestB is becoming a tiny tyrant we're going to have to de-thrown.

Sorry, not sorry for this mini-rant. It's been bubbling for a while. If any of you all out there feel me, please leave a message below. I feel like I'm writing for either a time capsule or a hoard of robots that is going to declare me their de facto queen since I pretty much seem to write for their benefit.

Finneas' new album, "Optimist"!

I am a fan of Billie Eilish. I love to listen to her music as I cook and clean in the kitchen. So, when my mom told me that Finneas O'Connell, Billie's older brother, had an album out, I got it the very same day. I have no regrets.

I played his album today as I worked in the kitchen. He has the same smooth quality of voice as his sister. I didn't want the album to end. I breezed through my work. I am putting this album on replay.

Below are a few of my favorites:

Also, Adele has a new single out. You will catch that below.

So Sorry

If you were expecting a post on my regular day, that didn't happen. Life seems to like to conspire against me so that I don't post as regularly as I'd like. But, I'm here now, so let's get to it.

Bomba Estero put out a new song named Ahora. I'm literally jamming to it as I'm writing this piece. I needed this song this summer. It would've been part of my Summer 2021 Playlist. Here it is below.

I just got W.R Gingell's 9th book in her Between series. Can't wait to start Between Family since the last book ended with an epic cliffhanger. In truth, my to read list is so long, I think I need a few extra lives in order to get through all of it.

To knit or not to knit

I'm almost finished this lovely beanie and scarf set. The scarf is coming along slowly because I find myself stopping and starting. It's hard to knit with a migraine since you're curled up in a ball in the darkest place you can find.

As you can see, it's been a bit of a trying time. But I am almost 2/3 of the way done and will post photos when I am. As always, feel free to leave a message below.

Porter Robinson's new album "Nurture"!

Last Friday, I heard Just a snip-it of the end of the Podcast, Sound Exchange. But that little bit spurred me on to find the song. Reader, I found it.

Porter Robinson's newest album "Nurture" just came out and I got his whole album. I've played it pretty much all day long. I don't know when I'll stop.

Below are two songs I think you might like.

Porter Robinson - Get your Wish

This is the song that had me hunting for this man's name. There's a happy nostalgic beauty to it. I absolutly love it!

Porter Robinson - dullscythe

At first, I thought that something was wrong with my browser, the clip I heard was breaking apart. Then, when I listened to the whole thing I totally got his concept. This song is like a dull blade. As the song progresses, it sharpens like a Scythe against a whetstone. It is so incredibly deep and gorgeous.

I hope you liked those two songs. As always, feel free to leave a message below.

Camila Cabello's Don't Go Yet is......... my family's theme song?

Honest to goodness, Every family get together is like this, "Wait a minute, before you go, I have to tell you this..." Or "Before I go, Let me tell you...". It never ends. I'm not complaining. I've been guilty of this myself so I have no room to point fingers. I'm just saying that I get it.

It's nice to know we're not the only quirky, clingy family around. And yes, I am the type of person who would cling to your leg and beg you to stay. If that didn't work, I try and make you take me with you. And I'm not the clingy one in my house. I don't make myself sick because you left me. No, I'm not naming names. You Know who you are.

I'm totally going to play this the next time we all manage to get together. Whenever that will be. I personally think the Pandemic made the clinginess worse.

Space Crunch!

My dad is eating up my data space on my usb drives. So, I'm experiencing a bit of a space crunch. If I can compress, I will. If I have copies, you better believe one will disappear into the ether of deletion.

I am going to get him his Own Micro SD Card. I am freaking out. I need space and one of my USB drives is missing.

It's Book Season!

I am so psyched that all the new books are coming out this fall. All these new books, all these new adventures! As you may have guessed, I love books. I do not know how may ebooks I currently have. At last count a few months ago, I was in the 19,000s.

No, I have not read them all. Yes, I do want to read them all. And No, I do not have a problem that requires me to talk to a therapist. Does that answer all your questions?

I can't even begin to tell you all the new books I am eagerly awaiting. There are simply too many.  Look for yourselves and I hope you find A book that you can crawl into. You know that Winter is coming and it's the perfect time to curl up with a mug of hot chocolate and a book.

What Lies Beneath by Marissa Doyle review

As many of may or may not know, I sometimes review books for Librarything's Early Reviewer Program. I love getting sneak peeks at books most won't get out for a couple of months. It makes me feel a little special, especially when the book is autographed. Anyway, I won What Lies Beneath by Marissa Doyle last month. Below is the Official Blurb.....

It’s 1917, and everyone is doing their bit now that America has entered the Great War—everyone except 17-year-old Emma Verlaine. Her overprotective dad won’t let her go to nursing school while he’s off doing war work; instead, she’s been sent to stay for the summer with her Gran on an island off Cape Cod, and the most she’ll be able to do for the war effort is knit socks. Socks!

As it happens, island life isn’t so bad. There are the seals that seem even more fascinated by her than she is by them. There’s the new Navy Air Station that guards the coast from German U-boats where she’s determined to get a job. But most of all there’s Malcolm, whose family owns a resort hotel on the island and who gives her swimming lessons and delicious kisses.

But danger lurks in the waters off the island. Only Emma can save her new home—if she accepts that everything she thought she knew about her life is a lie, and that the seals are following her for a very good reason…

There are a several of things I adored about this book. First of all, the early 1900's is one of my favorite time periods, so this book already had much going in it's favor. Secondly, Ms.Doyle did a wonderful job alternating between two point of views so that we can get a wider scope of the story. Emma and Malcolm almost seem to come alive as you read. The cover art just tells you it's going to be awesome.

What Lies Beneath is simply captivating. I'm putting it on my re-read shelf and recommending it to YA Fantasy lovers. I don't think it will disappoint.
